Sunday, May. 4, 1788

1:00 pm Hard Gales with Severe Squalls and Hail.

5:00 pmReefed and handed the Main Sail and got down Top Gallant Yard.

11:00 pm Set close Reefed Fore Topsail, the Squalls not so heavy.

Monday, May. 5, 1788

6:00 am Moderate Gales out Reefs.

8:00 am Up Top Gallant Yard & set Fore Top Mast Steering Sail.

9:00 am Employed cleaning below and airing with Fires. Making Spun Yarn. Served Sweet Wort as usual and Portable Soup & Sour Krout for Dinner being Banyan Day.

12:00 pm Cloudy Weather with frequent squalls of Rain. Birds & some Whales.
