H M Ship Providence from Port Royal towards [Port Morant Jamaica – 1793]

Remarks Thursday February 14th

 1 pm: Light breeze and fine weather – weighed the Stream and let go the Best Bower in 9 fathom Port Royal Point S10°E Gallows Point N58East Twelve Apostles S80°W – sent 37 pots of planhts on shore per Launch – Received 257 pound of fresh Beef – Got up Top Mast Yards & employed clearing for Sea at 6 light breeze veered to ⅓ of a Cable
Ships Draught of Water Forward 15 Feet.. 3 Inches Abaft 15.. 3

10 pm: Sent on board the Assistant for Savanah La Mar 83 Bread fruit Plants, 26 Various kind, 109 [total]

12 mid: Ditto Weather

 4 am: At 4 light breezes and fine clear weather – at 5 weighed and made all sail & came out through the South Channel – Assistant in Company – at 6 the Assistant stood to the Westward and cheered us – returned it

 7 am: at 7 in starboard steering Sails and hauled up Southern part of the South Sea N75E 1½ Mile Port Royal N½W 7 or 8 Mile Portland SWbW

 8 am: at 8 Port Royal N15°W 9 or 10 mile – Yelhas Point N81°East 5 or 6 Leagues – Lowered & repaired the Main Top Sail – set it again – at 10..30 a light breeze sprang up – in steering Sails – Served fresh Beef – at Noon light breeze & fair weather – Port Royal N55°W 11 or 12 Mile – Rock Fort N5°W 6 or 7 mile – Yelhas Point N82°E Portland SWbW
