[H M S Providence from Adventure Bay Van Diemens] Land towards Otaheite – 1792

Friday April 6th

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and Squally weather – at ¼ past 12 bore up set Top Gallant Sails, distance off Shore about 5 Miles at 1 the Land bore SE½E distant 8 miles – set Steering Sails – at 4 Fresh Breezes & cloudy – Worked the pumps

 7 pm: In Steering Sails and 1st Reef Main & Mizen Topsail 2d Fore Topsail – Fresh breezes and fair weather handed the Main Sail

10 pm: Squally in 2d Reef Mizen Topsail

12 mid: Fresh Breezes and fair weather

 5 am: Out Reefs and set Steering Sails

 6 am: Served thick portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast – Cleaned below

 8 am: Exercised the Boats Crews at firing with small Arms – Armourer at Work at the Forge – People washing and mending Cloaths – passed by a piece of board about 6 feet in length – Portable Soup and Bore cole in the pease for dinner Krout and wort as usual – at Noon fresh Trade and fair weather with Haze – Assistant in Company
