Tobin's Providence Logbook Mar 29, 1792

[H M S Providence from Adventure Bay Van Diemens] Land towards Otahytey

Thursday March 29th 1792

 1 pm: Light Breezes and Cloudy weather

 2 pm: Exercised the Boats Crews at Small Arms

 6 pm: Worked the pumps

 7 pm: In steering Sails and 1st Reefs Top Sails

12 mid: Ditto Weather

 4 am: Light Breezes and fair weather

 7 am: Out 1st Reefs

 8 am: Served thick portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast

10 am: Got up all Chests and Bags washed the Gun, Orlop and Cockpit Decks – at 9 Tacked Ship – Krout and wort at the usual times, and Bore cole in the Pease for dinner

11 am: Exercised Great Guns and Marines platoon firing – Carpenters Caulking the Launch – Sailmaker repairing the Main Deck Awning Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer for the Ships Company

12 noon: At Noon moderate breeze and fair weather Assistant in Company – Saw one Sheerwater – The Water very smooth
