Tobin's Providence Logbook Mar 28, 1792

H M S Providence from Adventure Bay Van Diemens [Land towards Otahytey]

Wednesday March 28th 1792

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and fine weather

 3 pm: Exercised the Great Guns

 5 pm: A swell from the Southward

 6 pm: Worked the pumps

 8 pm: In steering Sails, Royals, and 1st Reefs – Handed the Main Sail

10 pm: Light Airs and cloudy

12 mid: Fires all night to air Ship

 5 am: Out all Reefs, set Steering Sails and Royals

 7 am: Served thick portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast

 9 am: Light Breezes and cloudy, cleaned below

10 am: Krout and sweet wort as usual, and Bore coal mixed with portable Soup in the Pease for dinner

11 am: Exercised Great Guns and the Marines at Platoon firing – Sailmaker repairing the Quarter Deck Awning – Carpenters caulking the Launch – Saw one Albatross and a few Sheerwaters

12 noon: At Noon Light Breezes and cloudy weather
