Tobin's Providence Logbook Feb 14-15, 1792

H M Ship Providence, moored in Adventure Bay [Van Diemens Land – 1792]

Tuesday February 14th

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and cloudy weather – The surf increasing on the beach

 4 pm: Received the eighth turn of water per Launch, employed in the fore and main holds

 6 pm: Received the seventh turn of wood per Large cutter, and third turn per Small Cutter

 9 pm: Small Rain

11 pm: Fine weather

12 mid: Rain

 4 am: Light breezes and cloudy with Rain, employed on the fore and aft holds

 6 am: Moderate breezes and cloudy, with much surf on the beach – received the eighth turn of wood per Large cutter

 8 am: Sent the parties on shore as usual

10 am: Moderate breezes with showers at times, Received the ninth turn of wood per Large cutter

12 noon: Squally with drops of Rain

 1 pm: Moderate breezes with showers – Employed stowing the hold

 4 pm: Received the tenth turn of wood per Large cutter and tenth of water per Launch

 8 pm: Moderate and cloudy, received the eleventh turn of wood per Large cutter and eleventh of water per Launch

10 pm: Lightning all round the Compass

 2 am: Sent a party of Men to fish for themselves

 7 am: Sent the wooders and waterers as usual – received some wood per Launch – The fishing party returned with 40 pounds of fish

11 am: Received ⅔ of a load of wood per Launch

12 noon: Fresh breezes and heavy Squalls a high surf on the beach – Rain
