H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good [Hope towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792

Monday February 6th

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy with haze, a long swell from the Westward

 4 pm: Hazy

 6 pm: A Fresh Breeze and fine weather – hazy on the Horizon – Some Rock weed was seen – In 1st Reefs of the Topsails; let fresh water in and pumped it out again

10 pm: Fair weather – a heavy dew falling

12 mid: AM Very heavy dew

 3 am: Made and shortened Sail occasionally for the Assistant

 6 am: Served Thick Gruel and Portable Soup for Breakfast

 8 am: Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather – Washed the Gun, Orlop, and Cockpit Decks & aired the Ship with fires

10 am: Served Vinegar, Gruel, Sweet wort, Boar Cole, & portable Soup as usual

12 noon: Fresh Breeze and fine weather with haze – Saw some porpoises, a vast number of Silver Birds, some Albatrosses, Mother Careys Chickens, and Sheerwaters of Different kinds
