Tobin's Providence Logbook Feb 7, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good] Hope towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792]

Tuesday February 7th

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and fair weather

 3 pm: Made and shortened Sail occasionally for the Assistant

 6 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather – Saw great number of Silver Birds and sone Rock weed

12 mid: Cloudy weather – a heavy dew falling

 5 am: Fresh Breezes and cloudy

 7 am: Fresh Gales with haze, served Gruel and Portable Soup for Breakfast

 9 am: Saw several Black fish (so called by Seamen)

10 am: Cleaned below fore and aft, Bent the Bower Cables

11 am: In Top Gallant Sails & 2d Reefs Fore Top Sail, The Assistant not being able to keep way with us

12 noon: Fresh Gale & Cloudy with much haze, Saw a number of the same kind of Birds as yesterday
   Latitude Observed 43°..46′ South
