Tobin's Providence Logbook Jan 30, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good Hope] towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792

Monday January 30th

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and cloudy weather

 3 pm: A number of porpoises were seen

 6 pm: Let fresh Water in, and pumped it out again as usual – at 7 fresh Breezes and cloudy weather – in 1st Reef Fore and Mizen Top Sail – Air very cool

12 mid: Moderate and cloudy weather

 8 am: Served Thick Gruel and portable Soup for breakfast, Washed the Gun, Orlop, and Cockpit decks, aired Ship with fires – Served Vinegar Grout and Sweet wort – And Boar Coal & Portable Soup mixed with Oatmeal for Dinner – Exercised the people at Small Arms – A Few Birds were seen to day

12 noon: At Noon moderate and cloudy
   No Observation
