Tobin's Providence Logbook Jan 29, 1792

H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good Hope [towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792]

Sunday January 29th

 1 pm: Moderate breeze – fair weather

 3 pm: Saw several Albatrosses

 5 pm: Set Steering Sails

 7 pm: Hazy Horizon and cloudy weather

12 mid: Small Rain and heavy dew falling

 1 am: At 1 Fresh breezes with thick haze and drizling rain, the wind shifted suddenly round to the SW Quarter – Hauled the Mainsail up and took in the Fore Top Gallant Sail – carried a Light in the poop Lanthorn

 5 am: Moderate and cloudy wet the Steering Sails

 8 am: Drizling rain, cleaned below fore and aft and aired the Ship with fires – Served Sweet wort, and Krout as usual – Mustered the Ships Company in Divisions after which Captain Bligh read prayers to them – At Noon moderate breeze and cloudy
