Tobin's Providence Logbook Jan 26, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good Hope] towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792

Thursday January 26th 1792

 1 pm: Light Breezes and very fine weather

 2 pm: Shortened Sail for the Assistant – unbent the Fore Top Gallant Sail to repair – A Shark was seen

 6 pm: Exercised Marines at small arms – at 5 bent the Fore Top Gallant Sail – Spoke the Assistant found all well on board

12 mid: Moderate breezes and fine weather

 3 am: Made sail – a fine breeze and cloudy

 8 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy, cleaned below and aired Ship with fires, served thick Gruel for breakfast, and Krout and sweet wort as usual

12 noon: Fresh Breezes and cloudy Assistant in Company – Saw but few birds this day – The water very smooth
   Latitude Observed 39°..03′ South
