H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good Hope [towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792]

Wednesday January 25th

 1 pm: Moderate breeze and very fine pleasant weather

 3 pm: Carpenters repairing the Cabin Scuttles

 7 pm: Let in Water, and pumped it out as usual

 9 pm: The Main Top Gallant Sheet gave way bent it again

11 pm: Hauled in the Lower Steering Sails

 4 am: Set the Lower Steering Sails

 6 am: Gave the people a Breakfast of thick Portable Soup Gruel

 8 am: Moderate breezes and fine weather – with a slight haze on the Horizon – Washed the gun Orlop, and Cockpit Decks, and aired with fires – Served Sweet wort and Krout – Exercised the boats Crews with Small Arms

12 noon: At Noon moderate breezes and fine weather
   Latitude Observed 38°..55′ South
