Log &c. of H M S Providence from Port Praya in the Island [of St. Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope in 1791]

Friday November 4th 1791

 1 pm: Light Breezes and clear weather

 2 pm: Employed filling salt Water

 3 pm: Moderate and cloudy

 8 pm: Fires all night to air Ship

 9 pm: Shortened Sail for the Assistant

11 pm: Made sail, the Assistant in her Station

12 mid: Fresh Breezes and cloudy

 4 am: Fresh Breezes and thick cloudy weather – Saw some Sheerwaters & Mother Careys Chicken

 7 am: Made and shortened Sail occasionally for the Tender

 8 am: Drizling rain

 9 am: Cleaned below and aired the Ship with fires – Scrubbed the Hammock Cloths and Pinnace Sails

11 am: [?] the Gun deck

12 noon:    Latitude Observed 33°..08′ South
Moderate and cloudy with a light Haze
