[Log Book &c. of H M S Providence from Port Praya in the] Island of St. Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope 1791

Saturday September 24th

 1 pm: Light Airs and fair at times

 4 pm: Calm and cloudy weather

 7 pm: Calm and dark cloudy weather – In 1st Reefs of the Topsails

10 pm: Hazy weather

12 mid: Light Breezes and cloudy – Air cool – Kept a fire in the Galley throughout the night

 4 am: Very dark in the SE

 6 am: Small Rain at times

 8 am: Cleaned the Ship – The people employed washing and mending their cloaths

10 am: Dried and aired the Ship with fires

11 am: Light Airs and Rainy weather – set Studding sails fore and aft, a Breeze springing up from the NE Quarter – Lost sight of the Brig

12 noon: At Noon dark, hazy weather The Assistant in Company
   No Observation
