Thursday July 28th. 1791 Wind from NW to WBN – Moderate and cloudy At 4 PM Furled Sails as per Signal, employed working up Junk – AM The weather moderate, Unbent the sheet Cable Sailed HMS Salisbury for Newfoundland

Friday 29th. Wind from WSW to SW – Moderate and fair weather Employed as duty required – at 4 AM veered away and unmoored Ship, Hove in to ½ a Cable on the Small Bower – washed and cleaned the Ship fore and aft – Fresh Gale and hazy Weather

Saturday 30th Wind from SSW to WBS Fresh Gales and clear weather – employed servicing the Cable at 5 Pm blowing Strong with Rain – Got up a range of the Best Bower – at 11 PM veered to a whole Cable Service, and struck Lower Yards & Top Gallant Masts per Signal at 1 AM More moderate, Hove into the ½ Cable service – at 8 AM up Lower Yards and Top Gallant Masts – Received 191 pounds of Fresh Beer 16 Hogsheads Beer & returned empty Casks – Opened a Cask of Pork No 1978–Contents 59 Double Pieces

Sunday 31st Wind from West to SWBW – Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather, employed stowing away the Beer – Arrived HM Ships Inconstant and Winchelsea – AM Washed and cleaned the Ship Fore and aft at ½ past 11 The Royal William made our signal for a Lieutenant – Fresh Gales and fair Weather

Monday August 1st Wind WSW. Fresh Breezes and squally weather – AM Weather variable people necessarily employed

Tuesday August 2d
Fresh Gales and fair weather – Sailed H M. S. Pomona – at 8 [?] [blue?] [?] – The Victory made the signal to strike Lower Yards & Top Gallant Masts – Struck &c

Tuesday August 2d 1791 Wind from WSW to [West?] [Blowing?] [?] got up a range of the Best Bower at 7 AM more moderate, swayed up Lower Yards and Top Gallant Masts and up Top Gallant Yards got all ready for Sea – Received 190 pounds of fresh Beef – Fresh Breezes and fair weather
