Tobin's Providence Logbook Jul 13, 1791

From Sheerness towards — [Spithead]

Remarks &c Wednesday 13th July 1791

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy at 1 PM brought up in Girdlets Hole in 10 fathoms Water Beacon off the [?] Land NW – Girdlers Buoy SSW½W. Handed Sails up Top Gallant Yards – Weighed and made sail under single reefed Topsails set Top Gallant sails

 7 pm: ahead of Pan sand Beacon, Out all Reefs, light Breezes and cloudy – North Forland SbE 9 Miles and Margate SBW – Came too with the small Bower in 8 Fathoms – North Foreland SBW 5 or 6 Miles

 4 am: AM at 4 Moderate Breeze weighed and made Sail

 6 am: Handed the Main Sail

 7 am: Hove too off Deal, out pinnace, The Captain went on board the Commodore, found lying here H M Ship Ardent, Pomona & a sloop of War

11 am: At 11 Hoisted in the Pinnace
   Assistant in Company
