Friday 3  Moderate & Open Cloudy Weather Saw several Albetrosses Blue Petrils Sheerwaters & Port Egmont Hens Made & Shortened Sail Occasionally Saw some Rock weed ... Middle parts Fresh breezes & Cloudy Latter Strong Gales & Hazey at 3 AM in Top Gallant Sails & 1st & 2nd Reefs of the Topsails & Fore & Aft Mainsail at ½ past 8 Close Reefed the Topsails got down Top Gallant yards & Struck Top Gallant masts Handed the Main Topsail & Fore & Main Courses Saw a Gull & several Blue Petrils Sheerwaters & Albatrosses At Noon Ditto Weather Providence ESE 2 Cables .. Served Portable Soup

Saturday 4  Strong Gales & thick Hazey Weather with Rain Shiped much Water on deck at 2 The wind Shifted to West in Jibing the Topsail Peter Mulbury Marine was very much hurt in the Loins & head by one of the Trysail [Wings?] .. Set the Foresail Close Reefed at 4 More Moderate & fine Weather Out Reefs of the Topsails 2nd. Reef of the Fore Sail & set the Main Topsail .. Up all wet things to dry .. Saw several Albetrosses Blue Petrils & a Gull AM Fresh breezes & fair Fidded the Top Gallant masts Got up Top Gallant yards & set the Sails Out Reef of the Fore Sail & set Studding Sails Carpenter Employed Painting the Cutter At Noon Moderate & Hazey Providence South 2 Cables

Sunday 5  Strong breezes & Hazey Lost the Fore Top Gallant Studding Sail boom by the Heel lashing breaking aw several Albatrosses Blue Petrils Sheerwaters & Port Egmont Hens Took in & set Studding Sails Occasionally Saw a Turtle AM Moderate & fine Clear Weather Employed clearing away for Water in the Fore Hold & Broached the 4th. Butt ... Saw an Albatross .. At Noon Strong breezes & Hazey Providence East 2 Cables ... Served Portable Soup
