Flinders's Providence Logbook Oct 25, 1792

Remarks Thursday October 25th 1792 H.M.S. Providence

 1 pm: Fresh Gale and cloudy Weather

 2 pm: Saw Sheerwaters

 4 pm: Ditto Weather

 5 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual

 7 pm: Took in the Fore topmast studding sail

 8 pm: Fresh Gale and cloudy Weather

11 pm: Got up Top Gallant yards

12 mid: Ditto Weather Made and shortened sail occasionally for the as to keep in her Station

 4 am: Squally with a smart Shower of rain

 5 am: More settled – Set studding sails forward

 7 am: Saw flying Fish and several Birds of different Kinds

 8 am: The Weather much clearer since the rain, the Sun out – Fires in the Cockpit stoves – Stowed the Cutter in the Launch – Carpenters caulking the Water ways on the Main Deck – Aired the small Sails

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Gale and Squally with a few drops of rain the Sun seen at Intervals
   Assistant in Company
