Flinders's Providence Logbook Aug 28, 1792

Remarks Tuesday 28th In the great South Sea

 1 pm: Light Breezes and fair Weather

 2 pm: Marines exercised the Small Arms

 4 pm: Ditto Weather Bent a new Foresail

 5 pm: Saw Carey Chickens and Numbers of Porpoises – Spoke the Assistant – who had seen a Waterspout about 9 Mile distant to the Westward – All well on board – Before Dark – In 2nd reefs and shortened Sail for the Night

 9 pm: A very fine Night – some flying Clouds

12 mid: A slight Dew falling

 5 am: At Daybreak Out reefs and made all Sail

 6 am: Saw two Noddies

 8 am: Cloudy Weather Cleared between Decks and washed fore and aft

10 am: Carpenters painting the Pinnace Passed by Patch of rockweed and a Branch of a Tree

12 noon: At Noon Moderate Breezes and fine Weather hazey about the Horizon and some Swell from the South Eastward
