Remarks Tuesday August 21st Providence

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy Weather constantly hazey about the Horizon

 4 pm: Ditto Weather

 5 pm: Before Dark, In 2nd reefs of the Topsails

 8 pm: Made the Signal to haul to the Wind on the Larboard Tack – Answered by the Assistant, Hauled up

10 pm: At 10 the Assistants Signal to tack, answered – Wore Ship and stood after her

12 mid: Wore Ship per Signal

 2 am: Wore Ship as before

 4 am: Moderate Breezes and cloudy – Wore Ship

 5 am: ¼ past 5 Bore away – Out reefs, set Top Gallant sails and studding sails

 7 am: Saw a Flock of Birds at a Distance

 8 am: Ditto Weather Cleared between Decks and washed below Fore and aft – Aired the Cockpits with Fires – Boats Crews exercised at small Arms – People working up Junk and Sailmakers fixing Hozes to the Awnings

11 am: Saw three Tropic Birds upon the Water

12 noon: At Noon Moderate Breezes and fair Weather with a considerable Haze on the Horizon
