Flinders's Providence Logbook Mar 3, 1792

Remarks Saturday 3rd – Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes & Cloudy Weather

 2 pm: A Penguin seen

 4 pm: Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Weather – Some Rockweed seen and a few Birds about the Ship. Let in fresh Water and pumped the Ship out clean as usual in the Evening

 7 pm: In Steering Sails & first Reef of the Topsails

 9 pm: Thick Cloudy Weather

11 pm: Fresh Gales – the Assistant considerably astern – In Top gallant Sails – and Second reef of the Topsails

 4 am: Ditto Weather At Day break – Set top gallant sails and Mainsail

 6 am: Out 2nd Reef of the Topsails

 8 am: Silver Birds, Cape Hens and Albatrosses about the Ship

 9 am: Cleaned below & Aired with Stoves People washing and mending their Cloths

11 am: Mustard served to the Ships Company & Wort as usual

12 noon: Fresh Gales & Cloudy Weather
