Bond's Providence Logbook Mar 25-29, 1793

Remarks &c Moored in Port Royal

March 1793.

Monday 25th. First part fresh breezes with haze, middle and latter parts moderate breezes and fair. AM Employed painting ship &c. Sailmakers at the Yard. – Carpenters from the Yard employed on board. Received 107 pounds fresh Beef and served it out

Tuesday 26th First part fresh breezes with haze, middle & latter parts moderate breezes and fair weather Carpenters employed painting the ship and blacking the Bends. AM Carpenters from the Yard employed on board, and Sailmakers sent tot he Yard to repair the sails. received fresh Beef & a turn of water, which completed the ship. Sent John Letbie & Thomas Bain, Seamen, to the Hospital

Wednesday 27th. First part fresh breezes and fair weather middle and latter parts moderate breezes and cloudy. AM Carpenters employed painting as before and Sailmakers at the Yard. Sent the Launch to Greenwich with condemned Sails – Washed below. Sent on shore and erected the Observatory in Fort Charles. received and served 107 pounds fresh Beef. Arrived here from New Providence H. M. Sloop Serpent

Thursday 28th. First and latter parts fresh breezes and hazy. Middle part moderate and fair. PM Ship's Carpenters employed repairing and painting the Boats. AM Sent on shore some Powder to air &c. Carpenters from the Yard employed on board. Sailmakers from the ship employed daily at the Yard. received no fresh Beef to day

Friday 29th. Fresh breezes and fair weather these 24 hours. PM The Powder returned. Employed scraping the upper Deck. Held a survey per Order of the Commodore, and condemned 1270 pounds of Bread. AM Sailmakers at the Yard. received and served 107 pounds of fresh Beef
