Friday 8th. First and middle parts fresh breezes and cloudy, latter part fresh gales with showers of rain. PM people employed stowing the After Hold. AM. received a sheet Anchor from Greenwich, and sent it to the Dock Yard to be stocked. At 10 unmoored ship. Sent some more Powder on shore to the Tent – Served fresh Beef
Saturday 9th. First part fresh breezes and cloudy weather – middle and latter parts moderate breezes and fine weather At 2 PM let go the Best Bower in 9 fathoms, muddy bottom, veered away and moored ship SE & NW in a bow and quarter line with the Squadron; the small Bower to the NW in 9 fathom water Fort Augusta NbW Gallows point N65°E ¾ of a mile. Port Royal steeple, S45°E. Port Royal point S5°E, ¾ of a mile. AM. Loosed sails to dry. Received 110 pounds of fresh Beef and served it out. Furled sails. Got on board 1 ton of sand Ballast per Launch
Sunday 10th. Moderate breezes and fine weather all the 24 hours. PM returned and [an] anchor to the Yard which we received at the Cape of Good Hope weighing about 12 [?]:0 [?].0 [?] (the Guardian's Stream Anchor) People employed washing and mending their Clothes. AM. received Powder from the Tent per Large Cutter; and 207 pounds of fresh Beef from Kingston – Cleaned below, and mustered in Divisions
Monday 11th. First part fresh breezes and fair weather Middle and latter parts moderate breezes. Pm unbent sails. AM Caulkers and Joiners employed on board. Struck Top Gallant Masts, Fore Top Mast and Fore Yard. People employed overhauling the rigging. Sailed for England the Prince William Henry Packet. Launch and Cutter employed transporting Troops from Kingston to Port Royal. Sent ye sails to the Yard to be repaired
