Friday 18th November 1791 – Fresh gales and cloudy weather. Employed in ye Fore Hold. Sailed a Dutch Indiaman for Batavia. Sailmakers employed at the Tent mending Sails – At 8 strong gales and cloudy, dark weather. Struck lower Yards and Top Gallant Masts – Midnight Ditto and squally – At 4 AM Moderate breezes and clear – Up Yards & Top Gallant Masts – received Mutton &c. Washed and cleaned fore and aft – Moderate and fair; Painters employed painting the ship
Saturday 19th – Fresh breezes and fine clear weather. People employed about the rigging and scraping the Masts for painting. Carpenters painting & caulking the ship. Sailmakers repairing sails, and some scraping the sides – At 8 strong gales & frequent squalls – received Mutton &c. People employed mending their clothes &c. Ditto Weather and clear.
Sunday 20th Strong gales and clear weather: at 4 Ditto with heavy squalls
struck Lower Yards and Top Masts; got up a range of the sheet cable – At 3 Light winds and
variable (AM) – At 5 swayed up yards and Top Masts. cleaned the decks, and painted the lower
Masts & Bowsprit – Washed &c fore and aft; received Mutton, and some Water sent casks
to the Tent, and some sails – Gave liberty to part of the ships company to go on shore –
Moderate breezes and fair weather
