Providence Logbook Jan 9, 1793

Remarks Wednesday 9th January 1793 [Towards] St. Vincents

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and Cloudy Weather with light Squalls of Rain.

 3 pm: Saw Bonetos and Albecores. Some Oceanic Birds.

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual.

12 mid: Dark Squally Weather with heavy Rain. In all small Sails.

 3 am: Light Breezes and Cloudy.

 4 am: Heavy Rain.

 5 am: Frequent Squalls of Rain and thick Weather. Set Fore Top Mast and Top Gallant Steering Sails.

 7 am: Served Hot Breakfast as usual.

 8 am: Ditto Weather. Made good fires between Decks and in both Cockpits. Kept all wet things from below.

10 am: Heavy Squalls. Shortned and made Sail occasionally.

12 noon: Ditto Weather. Employed shifting the Plants to receive the benefit of the Rain.
  Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer.
   Assistant in Company.
