Providence Logbook Oct 31, 1792

Remarks Wednesday 31st October 1792

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather. Shortned Sail and sent the Boat for Lieut. Portlock.

 4 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual.

 6 pm: Shortned Sail Lieut. Portlock returned.

 7 pm: In 1st. Reefs and set Fore and Fore Top Mast Steering Sails.

12 mid: Dew falling. Caught a Flying Fish that flew upon Deck.

 5 am: Out all Reefs and set studding Sails both sides.

 7 am: Served Hot Breakfast and Portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner

 8 am: Washed below and Dried with Fires. Saw a Tropic Bird.

 9 am: Sailmakers putting a Reef to the best Mizen Top Sail.

12 noon: Ditto Weather
  My Plants look charmingly and I hope very few more will die. This last Week not above 2 have gone off.
   Assistant in Company.
