Providence Logbook Aug 14, 1792

Remarks Tuesday 14th August 1792

 1 pm: Moderate and dark Cloudy Weather with Rain but very smooth water

 2 pm: Sent the Boat for Lieut. Portlock to dine with me

 4 pm: Squally Weather

 6 pm: Let fresh Water into the Hold and Worked the Pumps to Ventilate the Ship. Lieut. Portlock returned to his Ship

 7 pm: In 2nd Reefs

12 mid: Cloudy Weather and at times Squally with a little Rain.

 6 am: Out Reefs and made all Sail.

 7 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast as usual.

 8 am: Strong Breezes and very Hazy. Saw a Tropic Bird.

 9 am: Washed and Cleaned below and dried with Fires

10 am: Hands making Points and Spunyarn

11 am: Served Sour Krout as usual, and a Puncheon of Spruce Beer

12 noon: Strong Breezes, Cloudy and very hazy Weather
   Assistant in Company
   Plants in fine Order
