Providence Logbook Mar 20, 1792

Remarks Tuesday 20th March 1792 Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Strong Gale and very Cloudy Weather & a great Haze about the Horizon. In 2nd. Reef Main Top Sail and 3rd. Reef Fore Top Sail. handed Mizen Top Sail

 3 pm: Many Albetrosses

 6 pm: In 3rd. Reef Main Top Sail. Let Water into the Ship & Worked the pumps.–

 8 pm: Dark Night and Strong Gale. Hauled the Main Sail up

10 pm: Fire all Night to Air the Ship.—

12 mid: In 4th Reef Fore Top Sail. Many luminous Spots on the Water.–

 4 am: In 4th Reef Main Top Sail

 6 am: Set the Main Sail

 8 am: Dark Cloudy Weather and Rain. Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for breakfast – Krout & Sweet Wort as usual. —

10 am: Thick Rainy Weather with Squalls. Cleaned & dried with fires. Out 4 & 3 Reefs – Set Mizen Top Sail

12 noon: Dark Cloudy Weather and fresh Gale. No Observation
  Sailmakers repairing Sails in the Cabbin
  Taylor mending Cloaths.
   Assistant in Company —
