Providence Logbook Mar 16, 1792

Remarks Friday 16th March 1792 Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Very Strong Gale and dark Cloudy Weather with a Misty Horizon. Bore down to the Assistant

 2 pm: Handed the Fore Sail—

 4 pm: Handed the Main Top Sail.

 6 pm: Very unpleasant Weather and damp Air.
Let fresh Water into the Ship and Worked the pumps.—

 9 pm: Fires all Night to Air the Ship

12 mid: More Moderate - Set Main Top Sail —

 4 am: Fresh Gales and Squally with Rain
Set the Fore Top Sail

 7 am: Moderating, made more Sail.

 8 am: Served thick portable Soup Gruel for breakfast, Krout and Sweet Wort, and Bore Cole in the pease for Dinner.—

10 am: Washed below and dried with Fires —

11 am: Sailmakers mending Sails. –

12 noon: Fresh Breezes and Cloudy Weather. The Sun out at intervals, but could only get Double Altitudes.—
  Some Albetrosses and small Petterals.
  Assistant in Company. I sent a Quarter of Mutton to Mr. Portlock by a float—
