Providence Logbook Feb 1, 1792

Remarks Wednesday 1st February 1792 [Towards Van] Diemans Land

 1 pm: Hard Gale and Cloudy Weather with bright intervals Much Sea from the W.S.S.—

 3 pm: Set Fore Top Sail

 4 pm: Saw a Bunch of Rock weed, called Tangle It is like Lashes of Coach Whips — Saw many Porpoises. — Some Albetrosses and Sheerwaters

 5 am: Saw many Porpoises

 8 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for breakfast Cleaned and Aired below with Fires. —

10 am: Served Krout as usual and Sweet Wort at ½ past 10. —

11 am: Saw a bunch large rock Weed - Served Slops and Tobacco. —

12 noon: Strong Gale and Cloudy Weather. The Sun to be seen but seldom. — Got a tolerable good observation — Out 4th Reefs — A few Albetrosses and several sorts of Petterals. – Much Sea from the WSW. —
  Assistant in Company but I am obliged to carry less Sail for her than I should other wise do. —
