Providence Logbook Jan 6, 1792

Remarks Friday 6th January 1792 Towards Van [Diemans Land]

 1 pm: Moderate and fair Weather. Set Steering Sails

 2 pm: We find that going above 6 Knots we sail faster than the Assistant and when the Wind will not carry us that she Sails better than us

 5 pm: Spoke the Assistant, Found all well
Pumps worked to keep the Ship free of bad air

 4 am: Moderate and Cloudy

 6 am: Some Oceanic Birds about – Swell from the WSW -

 7 am: Broached a Cask of Beef No. 1327. Contents Double peices —

 8 am: Saw some Whales with One Blow hole.

10 am: Exercised Great Guns and Small Arms
Cleaned below and Served Sour Krout to the People —

12 noon: Moderate and Cloudy Weather. Got but an Indifferent Observation – Assistant in Comnpany. Swell from the W. and WSW.
