Providence Logbook Jan 5, 1792

Remarks Thursday 5th January 1792 [Towards Van] Diemans Land

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and thick Cloudy Weather

 4 pm: Squally with spitting Rain and a fresh Gale In 2nd. Reef Main Top Gallant and 3rd. Reef Fore Top Gallant and Handed Mizen Top Sail —

 6 pm: Pumps worked to keep the Ship free of bad air

 8 pm: Lightning in the S.W.

11 pm: Lightning and Thunder – Some Rain

 1 am: Moderate

 3 am: Out 2nd Reef Fore Top Sail

 7 am: Out all Reefs

 8 am: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather. Washed and Cleaned below – Exercised Boats Crews with Small Arms

10 am: Served Sour Krout and Vinegar to the Ships Company as usual —

12 noon: Fair Weather. A few Albetrosses and small Blue Petterals about.
  Assistant in Company but we spare her our Steering Sails —
