Bounty Logbook Remarks, Oct. 11, 1788

Friday, Oct. 10, 1788

1:00 pm Light Breezes and Rainy Weather.

4:00 pm Committed the Body of James Valentine to the deep with all the decency in our Power.

8:00 pm About 80 or 100 leagues to the East of us lie some Islands said to be discovered by the Spaniards in 1773, but those Accounts being so uncertain I do not think myself at liberty to go out of my Way to look for them.

Saturday, Oct. 11, 1788

4:00 am Set Steering Sails on both Sides.

8:00 am Fair Weather. Served Portable Soup as usual. Sweet Wort at 11 O'Clock. Cleaned below. Exercised Small Arms. Sailmakers repairing Sails.

12:00 pm Fair Weather. Swell from the Southward. No Birds. Top Gallant Steering Sails and all Sails set. Being now upon Captain Cooks Track of 1773 I steered more to the Westwd Islands said to be discovered by the Spaniards about 80 leagues East of us.
