Monday, Sep. 22, 1788

1:00 pm Moderate and Fair Weather. Employed this day Making Points and mending the Old Main Topsail.

4:00 pm Cloudy, saw a Port Egmont Hen.

8:00 pmSqually, in 1st Reefs.

10:00 pm Double Reef Fore Topsail and close Reefed Mizen Topsail.

11:00 pm A great many luminous Blubbers about the Ship. The Swell from the NE begins now to be considerably encreased.

Tuesday, Sep. 23, 1788

6:00 am Out 2nd Reefs.

8:00 am Fair Weather. The Head Sea so very great that obliged me to take in all small Sails and carry but Single Reefs and Courses.

10:00 am This Sea from the Northward began as soon as I past the Meridian of the East part of New Zeland, before that I had generally smooth Water.

12:00 pm Ditto Weather and Sea. A few Small Albatrosses about.
