Friday, Sep. 5, 1788

1:00 pm Moderate & Cloudy. Got the Anchor in and Cables unbent.

4:00 pm Fresh Breezes and Cloudy, in Steering Sails.

8:00 pmSqually, in 1st Reefs.

10:00 pm The Southern Lights very firey, the most part of the Sky being covered as Red as blood.

Saturday, Sep. 6, 1788

12:00 am Fresh Gales Double Reefed the Topsails.

2:00 amHanded Mizen Topsail.

4:00 am Triple Reefed the Fore Topsail.

8:00 am Thick Rainy Weather. Served Hot Breakfast as usual and Cleaned below. Many Peterels, Pintada Birds and Albatrosses about.

12:00 pm Ditto Weather but got a tolerable Observation. Note this Day is wrong placed.
