1:00 pm Light Winds and fair Weather.

4:00 pm Tasmans Head S67W. Southermost of Marias Islands N59½E & Pengwin Island N82°W 7 or 8 leagues. Sounds 48 fathoms fine Sand. Cape Pillar N5W.

6:00 pm Tacked.

Friday, Sep. 5, 1788

12:00 am Light Breezes and Cloudy. Bearings of the Land the same as at 4 O'Clock.

3:00 am Rain.

4:00 am Moderate and Cloudy.

6:00 am Saw Marias Isles bearing NW about 9 or 10 leagues.

8:00 am The East part of Marias Isles NWBN about 12 or 14 leagues. Served Hot Breakfast as usual. Departure taken at 8 O'Clock allowing the East part of the Island to lie in latitude 43°17′S and Longitude 148°14′E.

12:00 pm Moderate & Cloudy. Steering Sails set.

Remarks at Noon: SE of Marias Isles, NW 52 miles
