Sunday, Aug. 17, 1788

1:00 pm Fresh Gale and thick misty Weather with Rain at times and a long Sea from the Westward.

3:00 pm In Steering Sail

6:00 pm Double Reefed the Topsails the Wind encreasing

Monday, Aug. 18, 1788

6:00 am More Moderate out 2nd Reefs

8:00 am Very hazy Weather and a Fresh Gale.

9:00 am Served Portable Soup and Krout as usual also Sweet Wort at 11 oClock.

10:00 am Cleaned and dryed below.

11:00 am Out 1st Reef Main Topsail

12:00 pm Fresh Gale and very hazy Weather and Cloudy with bright intervals of sun shine. Saw some Fish a species of the Whale called Finners from their Fins. A few Sheerwaters. Under whole Main & Single Reefed Fore Topsail.
