May 1793

Friday 17th First part moderate breezes and cloudy – middle part light airs and cloudy – latter part moderate breezes and fair weather – PM Sailed the Tyger Privateer on a Cruize – Sent Mr. Hinds Midshipman to the Hospital – AM at Day light Sailed H M Squall Proserpine on a cruize – and the packet Schooner for Barbadoes that brought dispatches here – Carpenters employed shifting the Bulk heads of the Officers cabins as well as on board the Advice schooner – Sailmakers employed at the Yard – Received fresh beef – Armourers cleaning Arms

Saturday 18th First part moderate breeze and fair weather – middle and latter part Squally with Rain – at 7 PM Departed this Life at the Hospital Mr. Hinde Midshipman of ye yellow fever – received 98 pound of fresh beef – at 10 AM sent the Yard Launch with an officer to Salt River to bring Men from the Ship Hector of Bristol who had mutinied on board – at 11 AM sent the Boats with Officers & Men to enter the Body of the deceased on the Palisades – The Clergyman of Port Royal reading the burial service – arrived a small schooner, prize to the Tyger Privateer – The Hector boat, brought up a deserter from the Proserpine

Sunday 19th First and middle parts fresh breezes and Squally with Rain – latter part moderate & cloudy – AM received fresh beef – Anchored here a french sloop Prize to H M. Schooner Spitfire – made Signal to the Pen – mustered in Divisions & performed divine Service – at Noon made Signal for a Kittereen – Aired ship with fires

Monday 20th First and middle part fresh breezes, Squalls, with heavy rain, thunder & Lightning – PM made the Advices Signal for a Midshipman – at 3 anchored here H M Squall Penelope from a Cruize – made the Signal for a Kittereen – AM – Received no fresh beef – ams and Carpenters employed at the Yard – Aired ship with fires – & made the Signal for a Messenger
