H M Ship Providence from Timor [towards St. Helena – 1792]

Remarks Sunday December 16th

 1 pm: Moderate breezes and fine weather with haze – People employed washing and mending their cloaths

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps

 8 pm: Cloudy – Porpoises about the Ship

12 mid: In royals

 3 am:St. Helena Island
Westerly rises of the Island St. Helena 6 or 7 miles distant

 5 am: Scrubbed the 1st & 2d divisions and colors bags – Saw flying fish – set Royals

 7 am: Served the usual Breakfast – Shifted the Ships Companys hammocks – and swept clean below

10 am: Mustered in Divisions & performed Divine Service

12 noon: At Noon Moderate breezes and cloudy – Assistant in Company – Broached a Cask of Spruce Beer
   No Observation
