H M Ship Providence from Timor towards St. Helena [– 1792]

Remarks Sunday October 21st

 1 pm: A Fresh Gale and cloudy weather with haze – fair weather at 1 and a heavy Sea from ESE – Out 2d Reefs and set Steering Sails – Saw Sheerwaters & flying fish – People washing and mending cloaths, Carpenters and Sailmakers as before

 6 pm: Dark Sky to the Eastward, in Lower Steering Sail

 8 pm: Cloudy in Fore Top Mast Steering Sail

12 mid: Cloudy weather

 4 am: Very hazy weather

 5 am: Set Lower and Fore Top Mast Steering Sails

 6 am: Sc Portable soup gruel for breakfast at 8 Cleaned below and aired with fires – Mustered in divisions and Captain Bligh read the morning service – Served Krout – Saw Gannet Boobies, Men of war birds, and flying fish – At Noon fresh Gale & cloudy with haze, the Sun out at times – A swell from the SE
