H M S Providence Moored in Matavai Bay [Otaheite]

June 7-10 1792

Thursday 7th First part moderate breeze and clear weather – middle part light breezes latter part moderate breezes – PM Sent ta party to haul the Seine, The party returned with very few fish – The Assistants Launch returned with plantains – AM Sent a party to haul the Seine – The party returned with 20 pounds of fish – Carpenters repairing the Cutter and fixing the Skylight railing – Sailmaker repairing the Main Top Mast Staysail – Armourer working at the Forge – cleaned below – Served fresh Pork plantains and cocoa nutts to the Ships Company – no bread fruit to be procured Received a moderate supply of Pigs

Friday 8th First and middle part light breezes and fine weather – latter part moderate breeze and cloudy weather – AM Sent a party on shore to cut wood Carpenters repairing the cutter and fixing the railing of the Skylight – Sailmakers repairing the Main Top Mast Staysail – Armourer working at the Forge – Served fresh pork plantains and Cocoa Nutts to the Ships Company – Received a very moderate Supply of Pigs but plenty of Cocoa Nutts

Saturday 9th First part moderate breeze and cloudy – middle part fresh breezes and cloudy – Latter part Light Airs and fair weather – AM Sent a Party to haul ye Seine – The party returned with no success – Sent the wooding party on shore – Carpenters employed on the Cutter, lining the Pots and about the Sky light railing – Armourer working at the Forge Served Fresh pork Plantains and Cocoa nutts to the Ships Company – Sailmaker repairing the Main Top Mast Staysail. Cooper fittiong Casks for the Large Cutter – Received a moderate Supply of Pigs plantains & Cocoa Nutts

Sunday 10 First part moderate breeze and clear weather – middle part light breeze – latter part moderate breeze – PM Employed casting off the ratlings of the Lower and topmast Rigging – A Party on shore cuttiong wood, People employed washing and mending cloaths, Carpenters repairing the large cutter, Sailmaker repairing the Main Top Mast Staysail AM Sent a paerty to haul the Seine – The party returned with very few fish – Washed the Gun, Orlop, and Cockpit decks – mustered the Ships Company in Divisions – performed divine Service – Served fresh Pork plantains and cocoa nutts as usual – A Party on leave – received a moderate Supply of Pigs, plantains and cocoa nutts
