Tobin's Providence Logbook Feb 26, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Adventure Bay Van Diemens] Land towards Otaheite in 1792

Sunday February 26th

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and fair weather – set the Fore Top Gallant Sail

 3 pm: Measured the Log Line

 5 pm: Sent a weather Cloth on board the Assistant by a line and Cask

 7 pm: Moderate breezes and cloudy weather – A Species of Whale by Seamen in that employ called a Killer was seen

10 pm: Kept a fire in the Galley throughout the night, and a light in the poop Lanthorn

12 mid: AM Drizling rain – In Top Gallant Sails

 2 am: Fresh Gales and Squally in 2d Reef Fore Top Sail

 4 am: Fresh Breezes and dard cloudy weather

 5 am: The Air very sharp

 7 am: Out 2 Reef Fore Top Sail and set Top Gallant Sails – Saw a Cape Hen, and Albatrosses, Silver Birds, and Sheerwaters of different kinds

 9 am: Served thick gruiel and portable Soup for breakfast – Cleaned below and aired with fires

11 am: Sour Krout and wort as usual
Borecole in the Pease for Dinner

Mustered in Divisions & Captain Bligh read prayers to the people

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Breezes and cloudy
