[H M Ship Providence from Table Bay Cape of Good Hope] towards Adventure Bay Van Diemens Land – 1792

Monday January 2d 1792

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather a swell from ye SSW

 3 pm: Saw a number of Sheerwaters, some Albatrosses and Mother Careys Chickens – and several Porpoises

 7 pm: Out 2d Reef Main Top Sail

 8 pm: Fresh Breeze and fine weather

 9 pm: Squally at times

11 pm: Fresh Breeze with clouds and Squally

 7 am: Moderate and cloudy weather

 8 am: Out 2d Reefs Top Sails and set Studding Sails

 9 am: Washed the Gun, Orlop Decks, and Cockpits – Caulkers employed on the Quarter Deck

11 am: Exercised the Boats Crews and Marines with small Arms

12 noon: Moderate breeze and cloudy with a long swell from the Westward
   'Latitude Observed 37°..32′ South
