[Log &c. of H M Ship Providence from Port Praya in the Island] of St. Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope in 1791

Monday October 24th

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and hazy weather

 3 pm: Hauled down the Studding sails

 8 pm: Moderate and cloudy shortened Sail for the Assistant

12 mid: Hazy

 4 am: Heavy Ditto Weather – set Steering Sails

 6 am: Saw several Sheerwaters

 8 am: Cleaned below and aired the Ship with fires – Served Vinegar, Pearl Barley Portable Soup and Bore coal to the Ships Company

11 am: Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer

12 noon: At Noon Moderate and cloudy
   Latitude Observed 28°..37′ South
