[Log &c. of H M S Providence from Port Praya in the] Island of St. Iago towards the Cape of Good Hope – 1791

Tuesday October 18th 1791

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather with haze

 3 pm: Saw several flying fish – Sailmakers employed mending the Jib – and the Armourer fitting up the Forge

 8 pm: Moderate and clear

 1 am: A Heavy dew fell in the night

 3 am: Fresh Breezes and fine weather

 6 am: Saw a Grampus and a Tropic Bird

 7 am: Caught a small Dolphin

 8 am: Hazy

10 am: Cleaned below and aired Ship with fires

11 am: Squally with heavy rain

12 noon: Fresh Breezes and Hazy weather
 The Assistant in Company
   Latitude Observed 25°..07′ South
