[Log Book &c. of H M S Providence from Teneriffe] towards the Cape of Good Hope – 1791

Tuesday September 6th

 1 pm: Cloudy weather

 4 pm: Light Airs and calms

11 pm: Set The Fore Top Mast and lower Studding Sails

 2 am: Moderate and fair

 6 am: Light Breezes – Some Bonettas were seen and a great number of flying fish

 8 am: The people employed making points – cleaned below

10 am: Sailmakers about Hoses – To [?] from the Awnings

12 noon: At Noon all Sail set the Assistant in Company – Steady Breeze and fair
   Latitude Observed 21°..37′ North
