Flinders's Providence Logbook Jan 10, 1793

Remarks ♃ [Thursday] January 10th 1793 H.M.S. Providence

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes & Cloudy Weather with frequent Squalls of Wind and rain. – Made and shortened Sail as necessary

 4 pm: Fresh Breezes & dark cloudy Weather

 5 pm: Worked the Pumps to ventilate the Ship below as usual.

 8 pm: Moderate Breezes & Cloudy

10 pm: Squally with a light Shower of Rain – One of the Botanists constantly up to see that the Plants receive all the Benefit of the rain

 2 am: At 2 a heavy Squall shortened Sail

 3 am: At 3 it moderated. Set Studding sails.

 4 am: Cloudy Weather

 6 am: Two Dolphins seen near the Ship

 8 am: Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Weather Set the Larboard Studding sails.

10 am: Exercised the Great Guns and Marines at Platoon firing.

11 am: At 11 Squally with some rain, Shortened Sail, single reefed the Topsails and made Sail again. – Sailmakers repairing the Mizen

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Trade and thick cloudy Weather
