Flinders's Providence Logbook Nov 17, 1792

Remarks Saturday 17th November 1792 H.M.S. Providence

 1 pm: Fresh Gale & Cloudy Weather

 2 pm: Carpenters caulking the Upper Decks

 4 pm: Cool pleasant Air

 5 pm: Set the Main Top Gallant sail.

 8 pm: Cloudy Weather

 9 pm: Frequent Squalls – Made and shortened Sail occasionally to keep the Assistant in her Station

12 mid: Fine Weather

 1 am: Out 3rd reef of the Fore topsail and set the top gallant sail

 4 am: Moderate Breezes and cloudy Weather with a Swell from the Westward – Out 2nd reefs

 6 am: Saw some Albatrosses & Sheerwaters

 8 am: Light Breezes & Cloudy Weather Washed and scrubbed between Deck and aired the Cockpits with Fires

10 am: Out 1st reefs & set Studding sails – Gunners cleaning and painting the Guns – A Puncheon of Spruce Beer broached for the Ships Company

12 noon: At Noon Moderate Breezes and fine Weather Assistant in Company
