Remarks April 3rd Towards Otaheite

 1 pm: Moderate Breezes and fair Weather with a long Swell from the South Westward – Washed between Decks with boiling Water to kill Cockroaches which were beginning to breed about the Galley – A Log and line lost

 6 pm: Before Dark – In Steering Sails & 1st Reef of the Topsails Saw a Sheerwater

 8 pm: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather the Fore Top Mast Steering Sail kept out

12 mid: Squally with light Showers – Took in the Fore Top Mast Steering Sail

 4 am: Fresh Breezes & Cloudy Weather

 5 am: At Day break set the Fore and Fore Top Mast Steering Sails Scrubbed Hammock Cloths – Ships Company shifting their Hammocks and airing their Bedding

 8 am: Cleaned below – The Articles of War &c ordered to be read today but it was on the 31st March when James Davies was punished – Slops and Tobacco served – Out 1st Reef Main & Mizen topsails – Wort as usual – Some flying Fish seen – Sailmaker employed as yesterday A Puncheon of Spruce Beer given to the Ships Company instead of Wine
