1 pm: Moderate Breezes & Cloudy Weather Shortened Sail and sent the Jolly Boat on board the Assistant for Lieutenant Portlock on her Return hoisted her up and made Sail – Painted the Launch – Saw three small blue Petterels and two Tropic Birds – Exercised the Boats Crews and Marines at Small Arms, the latter with Powder – ½ past 6 Mr. Portlock returned on board

 7 pm: Before Dark in 1st Reefs

 8 pm: Moderate and Cloudy Weather

10 pm: Squally with flying Showers

11 pm: In Top Gallant Sails and 2nd Reefs in the topsails

12 mid: Fresh Breezes with a rising Swell from ye NNW

 2 am: Thick rainy Weather and very Squally

 3 am: In 3rd Reefs in the topsails

 4 am: Small rain

 6 am: Squally with Rain which continued the whole Morning Watch

 8 am: Moderate Breezes and unsettled dark Cloudy Weather Out 3rd Reefs – Cvb and aired with Fires – at ½ past 10 the Wind shifted suddenly and Weather cleared up – Out 2nd Reefs and set Top Gallant Sails – Punished Davies Marine with 12 Lashes for Insolence to the Sergeant Loosed Sail to dry A Cask of Spruce Beer broached and given instead of Wine
